My father's best day

On his way out the door, and in a speech less than two minutes in length, Alberto Gonzales managed to complete his degradation showing a rare competence in that task that escaped him in all others in his many years playing "Fredo Corleone" to George Bush's "Michael Corleone".

Seemingly trying to convey how exhilirating his time on the national stage was, he said, choking up:

Even my worst days as attorney general have been better than my father’s best days ....

You live here, so you know what's coming ...

All I could think was

On his worst day, your father never hurt as many people as deeply as you did on your least destructive day at Justice.

How embarassing can it get?  You're a father who works hard at a hard job - construction.  Raise eight kids and send at least one to Harvard.  That kid grows up, becomes toady for a rich yankee snot and rides that snots coattails to the pinnacle of our system of justice - Attorney General of the United States.  And when he gets there, he perverts that system, undermines the very constitution that attracted people like you to this country.  He lies repeatedly, and under oath and spends six years serving the increasingly sordid needs of his master in increasingly sordid ways.

Finally chased down by an angry mob, and on his way out the door, abandoned by the snot, humiliated before the nation, his family and his peers, he has the nerve to say that his worst day was better than your best.

Rest in peace Pablo Gonzales.  I know you had better days than this.
